My favourite bloggers

Christmas is proving an exceedingly busy time and is keeping me from blogging. I'm only just finding time to keep up with my favourite blogs. That being said, I thought I would post the ones I read reguarly, and why I like them so much.

1. Llymlrs
British, student. Lily has lots of followers and in that way she has a fair amount of influence over amateur British fashion bloggers. I think this is a great thing due to her distinctive personal style, and the more influence she can have in this way, the better. The reason I think this is because there is a trend at the moment for teenage girls to think that being 'dressed up' necessitates getting your breasts or legs out. Lily's style shows that neither is necessary! (Which might seem obvious to me and you, but this is genuine quote from a 14 year old I spoke to last month: "What's wrong with looking like a tart?".) The media likes to think that teenage girls are heavily influenced by the fashion community, but I would go so far as to say they are far more influenced by reality tv, american high school dramas, and music videos. The fashion industry at the highest level promotes style and one of the most well known rules of style is that you either get your breasts or legs out, not both, for proportion. Most teenage girls do not see getting neither out as an option, and this is very sad.

2. Blaironabudget
British, shop girl. Blair's blog was one of the first fashion blogs I found (from her famous Primark lookbook post). She has a distinct style, and I like her attitude to budget fashion, and finding quality wear for recession-proof prices.

3. Selective Potential
American, married. I love Tieka's blog mainly because her personal style is often an exaggerated version of my own. She often features girly prints mixed with gorgeous boots, open-toe shoes and scarfs. She is great at accessorizing, which I am rubbish at myself!

4. Delightfully Tacky
American, Winnebago traveller. Elizabeth's blog is full of outfit posts but also features something completely different from all other bloggers: she has been travelling in her Winnebago across America and always has lots of interesting titbits of information in her blog. Elizabeth's style features lots of prints with a hint of a tomboy feel. Again, like Lily, she shows many times that being covered up (especially in winter!) is often the most stylish of all.

5. Vipxo
British, student. Victoria makes scrabble jewellry and sells them on her blog. I love her blog because she's proud of her size and shows that girls of all sizes can be stylish. Plus she has the most beautiful hair, and I am forever in envy.

So those are my five favourite blogs at the moment! I'm in the process of discovering some more so no doubt there will be a round #2 of this post next month.
